UhVoice is built with privacy as its core principle. Your voice data belongs to you.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
- Email address (for account creation and communication)
- Password (hashed with bcrypt, never stored in plain text)
- Name (optional)
Voice Data
- Voice profile embedding (a mathematical representation of your voice used for identification, not a recording)
- Audio recordings you create through the Service
- Transcripts generated from your recordings
- AI-generated summaries of your recordings
Consent Data
- Names and optional email addresses of individuals who consent to recording
- Voice embeddings of consented individuals (for speaker identification)
- Consent method and timestamp
2. How We Use Your Information
- Voice identification: To filter recordings and include only your voice and consented speakers
- Transcription: To convert your audio recordings to text using OpenAI Whisper
- Summarization: To generate AI summaries of your transcripts using Claude
- Account management: To authenticate you and manage your account
- Service improvement: To maintain and improve the Service (we do not use your recordings for training AI models)
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to process your data:
- OpenAI Whisper API: For audio transcription. Audio is sent to OpenAI for processing and is subject to their data usage policies.
- Anthropic Claude API: For text summarization. Transcript text is sent to Anthropic for processing.
We do not sell, share, or provide your personal data or recordings to any other third parties.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Audio files are stored on our secure servers
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt with 12 rounds
- Authentication uses secure JWT tokens in httpOnly cookies
- All connections are encrypted with TLS/SSL
- Voice embeddings are mathematical representations, not reconstructable audio
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: View all your data through the application
- Delete: Delete individual recordings, your voice profile, or your entire account
- Revoke consent: Revoke recording consent for any individual at any time
- Export: Download your recordings through the application
- Correct: Update your account information at any time
6. Data Retention
- Your data is retained as long as your account is active
- When you delete a recording, it is permanently removed from our servers
- When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently deleted
- We do not retain backups of deleted data beyond our standard backup retention period (7 days)
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for use by individuals under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. The updated policy will be effective upon posting.
